Harrison's name is linked with the old-timers. His story gives a cross-section of the city from the first of the 1890s. Born 31 October 1852, in Christian County, Kentucky, he and his wife migrated to the then new and frontier city of Anson, landing here 17 July 1890, stopping at the old McEachin hotel near the present site of the Pittard Drug Store. The business was later moved to a frame building on the lots now occupied by the big Ansford hotel. This structure was destroyed by Anson's first big fire in 1893, the business being opened again in a building immediately to the west of the old one.
