Lodge Organized 1903 The I.O.O.F. Lodge of Anson was instituted May 9, 1903, and the following officers were elected: F.A. Arnold, Grand Noble Z.B. Pirtle, Vice Grand A.S. Howell, Secretary A.D. Lively, Treasurer L.N. Glaze, F. Secretary Charter members taken in the first night were: Joe Grace G.M. Pittman J.R. Maxwell J.W. Findley J.A. Carlton W.C. Baker W.C. Cutrell Charles Oren H.B. Kennedy J.M. Wilson J.J. Maxey T.J. Witt W.N. Wilson A.W. Johnson Ed Martin R.R. Shapard D. Williams Jap Spraberry L.B. Gill W.B. Hendricks A. Maxwell Mat Nix L.B. Brumer J.T. Carter J.H. Bailey G.W. Poe A.S. Reaves W.H. Griffith L.M. Nix W.W. Bridges G.W. Moss Sam Caffey The lodge is now meeting over the Pittman building in the southwest corner of the square. A lodge was organized in Anson at an earlier date, it is stated, but was discontinued and all members returned to the State headquarters.
