All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Swan Chapel New Swan Chapel church to be dedicated Dedication services for a new Church of Christ church building will be held at Swan Chapel church on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 on October 8th, J.F. Crenshaw, minister of the Sweetwater Church of Christ will preach the dedicatory sermon. The official board of the church is composed of: H.R. Lieb, J.S. Aston, OĠNeill Roberts, Clive Turner, Milton Harrell, Tom Roland, Bob Scott, Erritt Roland, J.L. Savage, C.M. Latham. The new church building is a 30 x 40 foot rock building situated on the site of the old Swan Chapel No. 1 school building, since the two schools Swan Chapel No. 1 and No. 2 were consolidated and the new Swan Chapel school constructed at the present site on the Tom Harrell land. One of the earliest ministers of the church was Grandpa Harvey, father of Jimmie Harvey, who was minister of the church for several years. At present, D.L Ashley of Stamford is minister of the church and conducts the regular monthly services. The church is located next to the Swan Chapel cemetery, both the church and the cemetery having been in existence for over 20 years. The Jones County Observer Anson, Texas Friday, October 6, 1939
