Carlock and little son returned to Stamford Monday to reopen their cotton office in the Spencer building. Miss Lela Cooper who had come from Rising Star to reside with her sister, Mrs. W.C. Tunnell, since the death of her mother a few weeks ago passed away at 2:30 Wednesday morning. One brother, Brooks Cooper, and four sisters survive: Mrs. W.C. Tunnell, of Stamford; Mrs. Walter Henry of Abilene; Mrs. Ochiltree Jacobs and Mrs. Ed Anderson of Rising Star. T.B. Tunnell, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Tunnell and children, Miss Ruth and Charlie, and Mrs. Walter Henry and two children of Abilene. The Barrow Furniture Undertaking department shipped the body to Rising Star for burial. Mr. E.L. Howard, Stamford freight agent for the M.K.&T. railway informs the American that he has the lease from the railway to the city for the tract of ground on South Wetherbee, back of the Waples-Platter Wholesale house. The space is almost a half block and has several large mesquite trees on it. The railway company generously offers it to the city for park purposes for the sum of $1 per year so long as the city continues to use it as a park, or until the growth of the city renders it necessary that the railway company utilize it for industrial purposes.
