Taylor of Avoca gins first bale of cotton, Tuesday, selling for 30c a pound and a $75.00 bonus. H.H. Corley, proprietor of the Buy-Low Grocery on North Swenson, has leased the building vacated by C.L. Rogers Hardware on the South Side of the square. G.L. Eslinger, 82 years old, died at the family home on west Oliver St., Thursday afternoon. Mr. Eslinger was born near Memphis, Tennessee, and last July 9, reached his 82nd year, was a conservative Christian gentleman, early in life united with the Methodist church where he was a faithful active worker. Fuqua of Stamford.; Sister - Mrs. Julia Izard of Blackwell. Funeral services were at the Fuqua home on Webb Street at 3:00 Friday by Rev. A.L. Moore, presiding elder and interment made at Highland cemetery. Penick-Hughes Undertaking dept. was in charge. Mr. D. Hassen of Mineral Wells announces that Hassen Dry Goods Co., with Mr. Hassen as manager will open for business September 1 in the Walter L. Orr building. Mr. Hassen is a Syrian by nativity. Lueders Messenger Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lieb, Mrs. C.E. Arnold and Mrs. E.M. Douthit were among the pioneers at the picnic given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Penick.
