Leavitt, who was formerly located here for over two years has been in the jewelry business in Spur is back in Stamford and has formed a partnership with W.L. Martin in the jewelry business. His old friends can see him at the Bunkley Drug Store. Mr. E.P. Swenson, chairman of the board of directors of the National City Bank of New York City, and head of Swenson Brothers, of Stamford was here to inspect his properties in the Stamford country this week. The National Bank is the largest bank in the world in assets and commercially. Last Monday at 3:00 p.m., Mrs. A. Kuenstler of Breckenridge who with her husband, was visiting her children in Stamford and vicinity after but a few days illness, passed away. Mrs. Kuenstler had not enjoyed the best of health for the past two years. When a little girl of 12 she came to American from her native land of Germany with her grandmother, whose guiding hand had led her since her mother’s death in her infancy and the family settled in Lavca county, Texas. Thirty-four years ago she was married to A. Kuenstler in that county and moved to West Texas as some 16 years ago. She was 54 years of age at her death. Besides her husband, she leaves five step-children in Colorado and Texas, one of whom, Mrs. Davis Darst of Styles, attended the funeral and 8 children: O.W. and V. Kuentsler of Stamford; Paul and Victor of Haskell, Louis, John and Mrs. Roy Overton of Post community and Mrs. Otto Wilson of Breckenridge, all of whom were present at the funeral which took place at Haskell at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Post News - She became very seriously ill at the home of Mrs. Roy Overton, a daughter, living near Haskell. She leaves a husband, 4 girls, 8 boys. Torch of Roundhouse worker ignites his clothing, burned. Sid Price, 57 years old, machinist helper at the Valley round house was burned seriously from his waist to his feet about 4:00 Thursday morning. Hostler J.E. Massey discovered Price when he went on duty and called Dr. Bunkley who rushed price to Stamford Sanitarium. Doings of the Schools for Last Week of Term High School play Tuesday evening, “The Clodhopper” was presented. The proceeds of this entertainment will go to the Central War Building and the High School Annual, “The Prairie Dog.” Vaughn’s Bakery Bomarton News Plainview Mrs. J.V. Frizzell, Sr. returned home from Stamford where she has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Robinson. Mrs. Goodson, died Tuesday morning. She had been confined to her bed about three months. She fell and broke her hip last January. The remains were laid to rest Wednesday afternoon at Highland cemetery.
