Ulmer, of Lueders was arrested and placed in jail Monday night by Sheriff Birdwell on a charge of incest. Sheriff Birdwell and County Attorney Robinson brought the daughter, a 16 year old girl with a five months old baby to Stamford and she made a confession of the whole deplorable affair to Chief of Police Flournoy. The baby was born at Nugent last February and is a bright appearing and healthy child. Ulmer served a previous term of 10 years for incest with an older daughter, being sent up from Greenville. While in the pen his wife married again, and after he got out he married a 16 year old girl, took his two small daughters away from his first wife, their mother, and brought them to this country to live with him, moving about from one place to another before locating in Lueders. Criminal relations started in Haskell county and continued to this time. J.N. Blancett of Breckenridge is a new member of the Penick-Hughes Co in Stamford as retail sales manager. His family is located at East Campbell. Sam Tanner, the famous distiller of corn juice of Stonewall county, and under eight year sentence in Jones county, is in jail at Anson landed there Sunday by Sheriff T.C. Birdwell. He was located on the river south of Belton, Texas, installing a couple of stills according to Sheriff Birdwell and the arrest was made by a secret service man working on the case for his bondsman. Baby Eugene Nix Morrison, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Morrison passed away at the family home at 2:30 a.m. Monday. The little one was only eight days old. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 4:00 with Rev. W.T. Priddy conducting the same and burial at Highland cemetery. Dr. C.C. Shell and wife were host to their family reunion. Every child living was present: C.C. Shell, Jr. and wife of Desdemonia; C.A. Shell of Gainesville; Mrs. J.D. Kincannon and family of Dallas; Jules Shell and wife and baby of Stamford; Mr. and Mrs. Gruber and two sons of Stamford; Miss Avis Shell of Galveston; Miss Sula Bell Shell of Dallas; Miss Evalyn Shell of Stamford; Martin Kincannon of San Antonio; Miss Esterlyn Kincannon of Dallas; Miss Gene Polk of Oklahoma City. Avoca H.E. Culwell attended the old Settler’s reunion at Anson last week. He has been in Jones county 41 years. His father moved from Wise County to Jones County 41 years ago. Mr. Culwell say he was quite a small lad, being one of the first settlers in the county. Anson was his postoffice. The old home place now owned by Mr. H. Vaught about seven miles south of Stamford.
