The foundation has been poured and most of the material is assembled for the Grubbs Produce Company building on South Wetherbee, on the Katy Industrial tracks. R.L. Howard of Abilene has the contract. It will be brick and hollow tile and contain refrigerating equipment. Mrs. Lula Belle Garrett, age 64 years, 4 months and 22 days, wife of J.B. Garrett, of Stamford, died in Tucumcari, NM at the home of her daughter on Thursday, June 12, from cancer of the stomach. She is survived by her husband and seven children, all of whom were at the funeral held from the First Baptist church in Tucumcari, interment being made in the Tucumcari cemetery. Children are: O.J. Garrett of Stamford; Roy B. of Denver; Mrs. J.D. Hughes of Tucumcari; Mrs. Mattie Lou Hughes of Clarendon; J.B. Garrett, Jr. of Denver; mrs. B.F. Edwards of Tucumcari; Charlie Garrett of Wichita Falls. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Baptist church since 14 years of age. She and husband were both native from Georgia but had spent many years in the west, having lived in New Mexico, at Tucumcari and Portales, at Hale Center, Texas before coming to Stamford in 1920. Dr. J.H. Grace of Spur was in Stamford after visit to Hico where his brother-in-law J.B. Cole passed away. Dr. Grace’s brother-in-law, B.C. Burrow lives in Stamford. Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Glasgow and Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Glasgow and children, Hershal and Oma all of Avoca were in Stamford on business Saturday.
