Rhodes, who lived one mile south of Stamford passed away Sunday at 2 p.m. Mr. Rhodes was 68 years of age and was married 40 years ago to Miss Bobbie Bean who survives him. This couple had lived here eight years coming here from Stephens county. He united with the Baptist church when only a young man and has lived an active Christian life since. Funeral took place at the residence with Rev. W.T. Priddy conducting, the service at 11:00 Monday and interment was made at Highland cemetery with Penick-Hughes Undertaking Dept. in charge. Out of town relatives were: Dr. B.F. Rhodes, a brother of Abilene and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith of Cisco; Mr. and Mrs. Gentry of Brownwood; Mrs. Willie Jiggs of Cisco; Messrs. Shady Bean of Cisco and Ira Bean of Hawley; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Peden of Vernon. (Kinney records. J.N. Rhodes, #1, 66 yrs., 9 months; ) Mr. and Mrs. Williamette Culwell of Avoca and Stamford have moved to Memphis, Texas, where he will be choir leader for the Methodist church. The Odd Fellows lodges from Fisher, Stonewall, Haskell and Jones met with the Lueders lodge in semi-annual session Wednesday. Little James Coe, the 11 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. James Coe of Lueders passed away at the family home Monday and was buried at Highland cemetery north of the city. Penick-Hughes Undertaking department had charge. Stamford boy is killed at Gorman Son of W.N. Kinney fatally killed in auto wreck W.N. Kinney family late Sunday afternoon near Gorman, the family with W.H. Hargrove and wife had drive down Sunday morning to visit relatives in Gorman and head started back to Stamford when Mr. Kinney drove his car, head-on, into a Ford sedan in rounding a turn in the road. The Ford was being driven by a Mrs. Craig of that place and had gone dead in the road so when Mr. Kinney rounded the corner at too high speed to stop there was no way to avoid hitting the car. Fate Kinney, the nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Kinney, was so badly injured that he died within ten minutes. The body of Fate was taken back to Gorman to the home of the relatives they had been visiting. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon and interment made there. Mr. Kinney is undertaker and embalmer for the Barrow Furniture of Stamford and Mr. Hargrove is employed with the Buick Garage.
