Bunkley West Texas Ice Company The Stamford American Friday, April 24, 1925 Volume 2, No. 1 Elmer Childress, living about eight miles east of Stamford, was in the city Wednesday and has on exhibit at the First State Bank a meteorite which he plowed up in his field. On last Thursday afternoon, April 16th, at the family home at Avoca, Mrs. Sam Griffith passed away. She was 49 years of age. She leaves behind her husband, two daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. Joel V. Grimes of Avoca and Miss Ira Braden of Dallas and three brothers: B.C. of Lueders; C.N. of Stamford; D.L. Humphrey of Dallas; two sisters - Mrs. T.D. Morrell of Stamford; Mrs. Dr. Scott of Electra. Funeral was conducted by Rev. Edmondson of Rule, an old friend and former pastor of the family, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Spring Creek cemetery. Stamford Woodman Circle had charge.
