Miss Minnie Ellis who is to teach in the public school came last week. Mr. C.P. Morris and family of near Anson moved to Stamford this week. J.O. Kelley has been badly afflicted with his back. Miss Metta Ellis has been elected as teaching in the Stamford public school to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Jennings. Dr. R.O.. Watkins, brother of Mrs. B.F. Whitfield, after a short visit left on Monday’s train for his home at Pine Hill, Texas. Miss Emma Whitfiled accompanied her uncle. W.J. Norton left Sunday for Ft. Worth and Cleburne. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Parten a girl Wednesday morning. Miss Laura Garron is now living in Stamford and will teach elocution. Mrs. Louella Berry returned Tuesday evening after an absence. G.L. Gordon of Ft. worth came Monday on a visit to Walter Johnson and family. Miss Ethel Hightower was married to Thomas Martin, Jr. at Palmer, Texas, August 25th. Rev. J.H. Chambliss brought his daughter, Miss Beulah over from Haskell and placed her on the train for Cisco. Mrs. W.D. Boydston and children left on yesterday’s train for their home at Baird. Mrs. Boydston has been visiting her sister Mrs. W.J. Norton. J.O. Edmonston places his name on the Stamford News honor roll. Mr. Edmonson has been in Jones County six months. He lives on the Anson road and is pleased with the country. C. Spruling who lives south of Anson made 40 acres of corn per ace. Elder M.M. Scott, pastor of Paint Creek Baptist church, also Delk and Lueders churches told us of the marriage of Will Kinnison and Miss Mary B. Coleman, Aug. 24th, at which he officiated. Mrs. Dr. C.C. Shell has been rehearsing the Junior League this week and will give an entertainment in the Opera House tomorrow night. The play will be “The Street Vendors.” Last Saturday evening, Sam Crawford’s horse ran away with his buggy. He ran down Swenson Avenue and collided with John Redwine’s team hitched to a wagon, this too ran off. He then turned down McHarg ave. and ran into Judge Buie’s team this ran off and near Brazelton ran over a boy named Self. Anson Allsorts Prof. Cobb, Superintendent of the Robertson county schools and Mr. Halloway of Merkel were there prospecting this week. Mr. W.H. Smith of the Fair View community bought license here last Tuesday to wed Miss Nora Asher of Stamford. New Liberty School House Mrs. S.J. Gribble and sister, Mrs. W.L. Douglass left last week for Dallas to their mother who is sick. R.T. Douglass of Dallas was visiting his brother A.J. Douglass last week. Bro. Lee Caldwell will preach at the school house next Sunday evening. The Rice Bureau Puts in a series of seven entertainments at the Stamford Opera House, beginning Oct. 31.
