Groner conducted chapel Monday morning. Mr. McDonald sometimes becomes so interested to his work that he is oblivious to the presence of visitors. Miss Ellis is good. Bro. McInturf conducted chapel one morning last week. Ora Morrow and Neva Power are absent this week due to illness. Blew Off His Head Oklahoma City, O.T., Jan. 31. J.W. Dodgin, a grocer, was found in his room about noon hour today with the top of his head blown off and a shotgun lying by his side. It is supposed he committed suicide. He leaves a wife and five children. The family came to this city from Texas a few years ago. -- Fort Worth Record. Mr. Dodgin lived in Stamford for several years and has many friends here. Citizens National Bank of Stamford The following gentlemen met Jan. 30 and organized the Citizen’s National Bank of Stamford: W.H. Eddleman, Pres. Western National Bank of Ft. Worth; J.S. Morrow, banker Stamford; C.M. Pattillo, Chas. Brewington, B.E. Sparks, C.M. Taylor, E.B. Wilkinson, etc. The bank is to succeed the banking business of Mr. J.S. Morrow. Col. Chas. Hamilton came in his special car Tuesday evening. Local and Personal Born - Mr. and Mrs. R.V. Alberts a fine girl, Saturday, Jan. 28 P.G. Holcombe of Albany is with the Central Meat Market of this place. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Robinson died last Sunday evening, and was buried in the Stamford cemetery, Monday at 3 o’clock. she was six years of age. Grandpa D.C. Humphries died at the home of his son Chis Humphries at Avoca Tuesday evening. He was 78 years of age and had been a member of the Missionary Baptist church for 60 years and for many years a deacon in that church. He was a member of the Masonic order for many years and at the time of his death, a member of the lodge at West Texas. The Stamford Masonic Lodge buried him Thursday with the impressive ritual of the order. Worshipful Master, G.W. Daken and 14 of the officers and members went down to the train Thursday morning and observed the service. Mr. Humphries came from West in December. He leaves an aged wife and several children to mourn his loss. The Baptist church of Stamford called Elder F.S. Groner of Jacksboro as pastor last Sunday. Bro. Groner accepted the call and will move to Stamford. Capt. Theo. Nash an old confederate officer who was in command of the “Stonewall” was in Stamford this week. He is 72 years of age.
