McCarty of the Albany News was bitten in the calf of the leg by a rattlesnake while hunting. Stamford Public School Mr. C.M. Pattillo tendered his resignation to take effect at once. Prof. O.F. Chastain of Thurber was present for a short address for the superintendency of the school. The board elected Prof. Chastain. Anson Allsorts Rev. J.J.L. Lockhart is running a meeting at the First Presbyterian church. Fishing parties this week: Bro. Pirtle, F.A. Arnold, Sheriff Hollis, Uncle H.B. Kennedy, Mr. Bill Williams, Lee Tompkins Bobbie Myers, 11 year old son of Col. R.A. Myers was kicked by a horse and his leg broken in two places below the knee. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Boaz and Miss Clemmie Keeling went to Abilene. Mrs. Creed Roberts and daughter, Miss Ollie of Funston were shopping in Anson. P.E. Morgan of Bell County purchased the mesquite grove at the terminus of Swenson Avenue three miles from town and plowed the fields. Points from Plainview Attended the concert at Sayles School house. C.H. Miller and daughters, Miss Pearl and Tyna are visiting relatives in Cottle county this week. Mr. Jess Coleman ordered a new buggy. Mr. Pamplin were shopping in Stamford. Rev. Mills was with us on Sunday. From Liberty Messrs. Douglass and Vaden went to the Clear Fork last week. Robert Bouldin of Haskell attend the singing. Bro. Lee Culwell of Avoca made a splendid talk at the singing. Miss Maud Carter of Neinda is visiting the family of R.W. Vaden this week. Oscar Williams, formerly of this place, but who last winter went to Grayson County, returned a few days ago and is working for Mr. Jobe. Avoca Items Walter Ward who has been attending school at Waxahachie returned home Tuesday. Miss Lucille Williams and Mrs. Bessie Samples attended the play at Nugent. Evan Lawson of Stamford attended the ice cream supper at Mr. Ranie’s. J.J. Bragg and daughter Miss Bell visited friends. Local and Personal Wanted: All the crown beer bottles we can get. Stamford Ice & Refrigerating Co. Miss Norma Harris of Avoca is visiting. Mrs. Pres Corley has been dangerously ill for the past week. Her mother, Mrs. Wertman of Dallas came a few days ago. L.S. Ligon has moved his tailoring establishment to the west side in the building formerly occupied by the Bills Shaving Parlor. Married - Mr. L.L. Haskue and Miss Pearl Decker at the Methodist parsonage in this city, Tuesday morning, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. J.A. Biggs officiating. Stamford Baseball Club Lee Putnam, Chas. Sammons and Howard Burns were appointed a committee to raise a fund to equip the team.
