It will stand on the south side it will give the town a city appearance. Mr. P.J. Smith will erect a stone building on the east of the above building 50 by 100 feet one story. Corinth Cullings Mr. Stamford and family of Anson were guests of the Bagwell home. Misses Bert Terrell and Zubie Turner were in Stamford. Rev. West of Avoca preached at the school house. The holiness people held a three days meeting here. Elbert Watts was kicked by a mule. Misses Sweet Turner and Anna Burns were shopping in Stamford. Walter Watts and Joe Huff have been “rushing” the binder. Ice cream social at Mr. and Mrs. Woodson. Jim Burns and Lester Turner attended church at New Hope. Joe Cottoner of Anson was here. Ben Blair of Stamford attended the box supper here. Miss Bessie Turner was the guest of Miss Ruth Harman Sunday. John Curr, Talmage Britton and Mal Cox were sick from an overdose of ice cream. Henry Gentry and Elbert Goodman of Anson were here. Mrs. Clair Ligon and child left Wednesday morning to visit in Abilene. Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Bertie Martin and Mr. David P. Wallace in the Baptist church, evening, June 20, 1905. R.M. Dickenson will begin work on his new stone building on West side, in the place now occupied by his meat market, in a short time. We will shoe horses for one dollar a set to No. 3s. Callicoatt & Marshall Local and Personal Mrs. S.H. Hutchings of Atlanta, Ga., is visiting the family of B.G. Wallace. Will Wright of the New Hope community, spent Sunday in Stamford. J.T. Collier of Haskell was in town Tuesday to meet his daughter returning from school in Oklahoma City. M.E. Miller left Wednesday to attend the State Pharmaceutical Association at Dallas. Miss Minnie Burlsmith left Monday for her home at Waco. mrs. H.S. Abbott and children went with her. Dr. G.M. Calloway, wife and child of Anson left for Alabama and the old home and relatives. W.S. Britton of Munday left Thursday to visit relatives in Erath county. Married - Sunday morning, June 11, 1905, Mr. Joe Holt and Miss Flora Fletcher, at the home of the officiating minister, Rev. Sam C. Vaughan, near Neinda. Miss Bessie Shapard, who has had charge of the Millinery department of the D.O. McRimmon Mercantile Co., left Monday for her home in Taylor, Texas to spend the summer. G.A. Anderson who has recently moved from Hutchins, Texas. He has bought land here. Faculty of Stamford Public School for the new year: O.F. Chastain, Superintendent; L.T. Cunningham, Principal; Miss Lela Morris, First Assistant; Mrs. Joseph L. Lockett, Primary; Mrs. L.T. Cunningham, Miss Pearl Matthews, Miss Bertha Bizzell, Miss Jettie Kirkpatrick. Capt. T.F. Pettus of Moran and an old merchant of Albany was in Stamford Wednesday night. Mr. Pettus held an important government position in China under Cleveland’s first administration. The Bennings Calf Dehorner Mr. Chas. E. Binnings Superintendent of the Stamford Oil Mill has invented and patented a calf dehorner, which is quite generally acknowledged to be the best instrument for that purpose ever devised. Tests have been made with it on the SMS ranch with such good results that their entire steer calf crop this year will be dehorned. Mr. John Snodgrass and wife, of Lott, Texas, are visiting the family of his old friend, N.H. White of this place. Plainview Ollie Kinnison returned from Gorman. Earl Morgan purchased a new buggy. Miss Pearl Miller was the guest of her cousin, Miss Annie Miller of Stamford. Prof. Freeman and Mr. Ryley left Wednesday for their home at Wetimuka, I.T. Messrs. Donahoo, Overton and Mrs. Gardner had lightning rods placed on their residences this week. Will Clark received a letter bearing the sad intelligence of the sickness of his son Ed, who is in Portales, N.M. Charley Collier and wife were visiting her father, Mr. Lewis at Sagerton Saturday. Social at Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Miller’s Monday night. Prof. Freeman at the violin and guitar, Mrs. A.A. Miller and Miss Nellie Morgan at the organ. No trespassing on my farm west of the Oil Mill. -- H.T. Penn From McCaulley Prof. Shields of Neinda has contracted to teach the school. Prof. S.L. Reeves will possibly teach the Roby school. The school at this place closed last Wednesday. There was a good attendance at the Primitive Baptist meeting at White Pond. Mr. Bark Pribble and Miss Cora Russel were married at the bride’s father’s residence Sunday morning at 9 o’clock. Dr. Batty will move to a new residence soon.
