Perry have a family reunion this week: Mr. and Mrs. George E. Goodwin and family, of Colorado City; Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Francis and family of Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Hanchett and son, of Sherman. The ladies are sisters of Mrs. Perry. Fort Worth seems to be infested with horse thieves. Several thefts of horses and buggies, police seem unable to manage the situation, having effected only one arrest, that of an 11-year-old boy. Local and Personals Camping hack and bunch of cattle for sale cheap. R.S. Caperton, near W.T. Bullington’s. G.R. Spielhagen places his name on the honor roll. John Bush, of Goldthwaite visited his uncle W.F. Bullington. Mrs. H.D. Kaigler of West, Texas came to visit her sister, Mrs. G.W. Dakan. W.M. Ellis of Comanche, Texas, is the guest of Joe B. Miller and family. From Liberty W.P. Brown made a trip to Haskell. T.J. Cannon spent last week in Anson on jury duty. W.C. Cannon is at Anson this week on the jury. Mr. John Post and wife of Haskell are visiting their daughter, Mrs. W.C. Cannon. Calvin Crone from Smith county is here visiting relatives. Richard Vaden went to Anson last Saturday. Rev. W.H. Bateman will preach at the school house. Frank Huntsman and wife of Stonewall county were in town yesterday. Born - to Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Whittington a fine boy Monday morning, July 17. Dr. F.F. Wyatt of Abilene will hold a meeting in Stamford. Mr. Spielhagen is still pushing for the settling up of the country. On July 16th, at my home I had the pleasure of uniting in marriage Mr. L.A. Copeland and Mrs. Addie Harris. -- W.H. Bateman Miss Kate Pattillo returned last week and Miss Bert Connelly of Hico came with her. The U.C.V. Flag Pole For nearly a week Messrs. Browning and Sauls were at work in the room north of the News office making a pole for the U.C.V. re-union grounds. The top of the pole will be 58 feet above the ground with ten feet in the ground. The pole is made of scantling 2-4 cut to a perfect joint, hollow and tapering from one foot to the point. Mrs. J.A. Biggs and her sister, Mrs. J.W. Dean for Lampassas. Mrs. Dean went to be treated for cancer and is now in Belton.
