In a late issue the News referred to the frequent trips of Mr. C.M. Chapman, the Marcy merchant, to Knox City as meaning, perhaps, more than social visits. It has now developed that we were correct in guessing about the matter, as Mr. Chapman has combined his mercantile business at Marcy with the J.A. Wood Mercantile Company’s store in this town, moved the goods here and is now doing business in Knox City. The committee appointed by the City Council, of its members, to purchase fence to enclose the City Hall has closed a contract with the Anchor Fence Co., of Fort Worth for fence. The fence will cost 63 cents per foot less 15 percent from gross amount. The city is to raise $250 by public subscription for the first payment. Our postmaster, N. Leavitt, the indefatigable Napoleon of finance, has taken this matter in hand.
