Foster, editor of the Throckmorton Times, is at the Reunion. Anson All-Sorts The Abilene Northern is now hauling bridge timbers out from Abilene. J.H. Graves of Mansfield is here. Capt. J.D. Perkins and family have returned from Henrietta bringing with them Miss Ruby who has been up there at her sister’s for her health. Mr. H.C. Hale has bought out the Anson Lumber co. Anson young people going to Polytechnic school in Fort Worth: Misses Jack Castles, Lucy Brockett, Cornelia Brockett, Fannie Anderson, Jessie and Birt Steed, Stella Carmon. Col. J.B. Carnahan was in town this morning from Durant, I.T. He is an old timer from Jones county. Mrs. Moore Murdock attended the Reunion. She is secretary of the National Association of the Mexican War Veterans, National Commandant Dames of 1849. We have just received the first number of the Jones County Talk, the new paper published at Anson, S.B. Wallace, editor and proprietor. It is a five column quarto, home print, a newsy and well printed paper. Col. James Harris, ex-confederate from Wills Point was at the reunion. The first bale of cotton for this season was sold today by Frank Juracka and was grown on A.b Craw’s place. Baker, Bryant Co. bought it paying 10 cents. It was ginned by Rosamond and weight 495 pounds. R.J. Haywood of near Beaumont has been in Stamford several days examining clay with a view of putting up a large brick plant. He is an expert in brick manufacturing and says that Stamford has the best shale he has seen anywhere int he country. Mr. Leavitt recently sent away a quantity of clay which he wil have manufactured into brick. Frank Mays and wife and daughter Miss Pauline, of East land came to visit relatives in Hamlin. Charles We. Muddleton and F.J. Shindler, real estate men of Hamlin are in town. Mrs. Rosa E. Davis of Austin is here for the purpose of establishing a private school and will teach in the Sledge Hall. Gus Clemer and daughter of Rochester left for Cleburne. Mrs. May Cheaney and sons who have been visiting Mrs. Cheaney’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Cannon, left for Chickasha, I.T. J.G. Muenzler and boys of Avoca were up today. Last night in the Baptist church, Mr. Clifton Wallace and Miss Anna Ashburn were married. Rev. F.S. Groner officiating. Mrs. M.T. Hall played the march. William Stenett acted as best man and Miss Ethel Moore as the maid of honor. Miss Georgia Riter and Miss Edna Grimsley, Mr. Pink Busby, Haywood Hamblet and Pierce Brewington were the ushers. Miss Mattie Pattillo and Master Whitfield Colbert bore the flowers. Mrs. B.B. Alford of Fort Worth is visiting her parents, Mr. and mrs. A. Wood. D.S. Cullum our drayman and friend is searching through a train of cars. A.J. Brown actually brought in the first bale but was unable to get it ginned so became the second bale ginned.
