Pattillo. From Monday’s Daily W.A. Hawkins, the banana man is in town with another car of bananas. Dr. L.B. Roebuck and family will leave for Avoca, Jones county, where they will make their future home. Mr. Roebuck has been elected cashier of the Avoca State Bank at that place. -- Sweetwater Reporter A new concrete sidewalk is being built this week in front of Baker-Bryant’s store. Godfrey Dillon, who has been on the News for the past several weeks as foreman of the mechanical department, left this morning for Nocona, Texas where he goes to accept the position that he vacated when he came here. A number of Germans with their family were in Stamford last night and registered at the Lawson Hotel. They were on the Wichita where they go to locate. The News is indebted to Editor Thomas of the Western Reporter for the loan of three bundles of blank paper. Dr. M.M. White, a specialist in the treatment of the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat, has made arrangements to open offices int he Citizens national Bank Building. He will be moving his family to Stamford. W.F. Weiser, President of the Stamford Mill & Elevator Co. arrived from his home at Hico. J.B. Brown has opened a shoe shop in connection with C.L. Rogers, the harness maker. Tilman Dodson of Lueders marketed 17 bales of cotton in town. Robt. T. Dodson, and J.H. Carlton of Harrison, Ark. were home seekers here last night. Mr. Dobson is the present deputy clerk of Boone County, Ark., and Mr. Carlton is the County Examiner. They are both old acquaintances of Mr. Russell, the business manager of the Daily News. Stamford Post Office advertised letters - November 11, 1906 W.B. Partridge, Miss Inez Hamilton, J.D. Sawyer, Fay Cane, Tom Sanders, E.P. McGuire, W.C. Morros, James Thomas Moore, A.A. Mitcham, W.H. Bradley, M. Aaron, Robt. Harris, Andrew Williams, W.H. Stewart, J.B. Bennett, Jignaty Bros., J.w. Cook, J.E. Love, Jon. M. Teague, S.E. Martin, Elmer Grimes, W.R. Greer, W.N. Vincett, Walter Qualtrc, Miss Ethel Hady. Mr. J.S. Goodwin died at the residence of Judge L.M. Buie, Sunday evening at 4:30 o’clock of pneumonia. Mr. Goodwin reached Stamford last Saturday night from Fresno, California and was sick at the time and continued to grow worse till the end. Mr. Goodwin was an old citizen of Jones county having come here 25 years ago. His brother, A.H. Goodwin recently came to Stamford from California. He was a single man and about 50 years of age. The burial will be in the Stamford cemetery this evening. From Saturday’s Daily W.J. McDaniel was over from Haskell today. Tom Halsell is building a modern residence on his farm two miles east of town. R.T. Hinds and wife of west of Anson are in town. Mr. Hinds has bought propery and will move to Stamford. From Friday’s Daily Dr. J.A. Ward and wife were up from Avoca today to meet their old friend, W.R. Kirkpatrick from Ellis County. From Tuesday’s Daily J.H. Blair the lightning rod man had a horse die.
