There are several sick members of the Adam’s family. Dr. M.M. White left last for Waco where he will close out his office there preparing to come here. President of Stamford Collegiate Institute Secured A telegram from Financial Agent R.B. Evans announces that the Rev. Jerome Duncan has accepted the head of the faculty. H. Armstrong, agent for the Rotan Townsite Co., is temporarily located in Stamford. From Monday’s Daily Herman J. Reckelman, one of the new merchants at Weinert is in the city. H.T. Harberson, the Wells-Fargo express driver is the proud father of a 10 pound boy that arrived last night. J.A. Lackey has sold his interest in the confectionery business on McHarg avenue to his partner, J.R. Morrow. From Tuesday’s Daily J.S. Ramsey and wife will move to Stamford. Mrs. Ramsey is a daughter of Dr. T.A. Jones of this city. C.M. Pattillo has the lumber on the ground and carpenters rebuilding his servant’s quarters that were destroyed by fire the other night. The negro woman that occupies the house says that her lamp was flickering considerable and that when she tried to blow it out it exploded and scattered the flames all over the floor and that in a moment the whole house was on fire. She lost all of her wardrobe in the conflagration. Yesterday about 3:30 o’clock Mr. A.H. Pate and Miss Bessie Taylor were united in the holy bonds of matrimony while seated in their buggy in front of the Baptist parsonage, Rev. G.B. Airhart officiating. The happy couple are Jones county people and live near Shiloh, and came to Merkel to be made man and wife. They were accompanied by Mr. Tate Potts and Miss Bessie Beasley, Mr. Zack Taylor and Miss Mary Williams, Mrs. Lela Williams and Noma Williams, Tom Mayberry, Willner Grayson and Sanford Callahan. Mr. Pate is the son of Mr. Jack Pate and his young bride is the daughter of Mr. R.W. Taylor. Mr. Pate is a nephew of our townsman, Mr. John Pate, and the newly married couple spent last night with his family in Merkel. -- Merkel Telegram From Monday’s Daily J.M. Stewart who has been holding a chair at Dial’s Barber shop will left for Haskell where he goes to ply his trade. Rev. G.N. Williams of Lueders will leave for New Mexico to live. R.F. Sullivan of Leonard have located at Anson and will put in a planning mill. The New Hope Gin has ginned 1,100 bales of cotton. Mrs. William Luedke died at Waco last Saturday after undergoing a surgical operation. The corpse was brought to Stamford on the train Sunday evening and taken to the home south of town. The burial was in the new Hope cemetery this afternoon. Mr. Ludecke and his family located in the German settlement south of town and are prominent people in that community. Bob Turner and Pope. of Strawn are two new barbers at Dials Barber Shop.
