Mrs. A.S. Bullock and children arrived in Haskell from Farmersville and joined her husband. Mr. Bullock has been with the firm of D. Egger & Son. Mrs. W.E. Tatum died Saturday night at 7:30 after an illness of several weeks. The body was shipped to Cameron for interment. Her mother and sister arrived and attended the corpse to the place of burial. The 8 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Lamb died at their home four miles north west of Stamford Wednesday. The burial will be in the Fairview cemetery today. there are two more children in the family seriously ill. Mrs. W.J. Power died at her home in Stamford 2 o’clock Wednesday morning and was buried in the Stamford Cemetery 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Power had not been considered seriously ill only a few days before her death, and many who knew her were not aware of her sickness till notified of her death. Some several months ago when there was sleet on the ground she slipped and fell and fractured one of her limbs, and has not since been able to go about only with the assistance of a crutch. She with her husband and children has been in Stamford nearly since the beginning of the town. She was a member of the Baptist church and Bro. Groner, the pastor, assisted by other local pastors, performed the last rites at the grave. Out to Sagerton The News man made a trip to the town of Sagerton. He got a pretty early start and was hurrying along near the oil mill when hailed by a man going to town. This was Mr. G.T. Poff, who has bought a part of the old Rike place and made it a first class farm. We met our old friend W.P. Caudle who is still offering the public bargains in land. We met W.W. Adcock of Sagerton in the interest of the public school at Leavit. We found D.A. Whittington holding down the railroad end of Sagerton. The 18 miles homeward was made in three hours with no incidences. For City Marshall - N.H. White, Geo. Flournoy, J.N. Hale E.A. Purdy came into our office to say that B.C. Stage, a baker of 20 years has opened “The Home Bakery.” Their location will be near the Wichita Depot. Local and Personal The Stamford Herald was run by Bro. Greer. M.L. Marrs, brother of W.B. Marrs is here visiting. Mr. Marrs is from Hutto, C.M. Sticklin of Florence is also visiting Mr. Marrs. R.A. Keith of near Sagerton was in town. Mr. Keeth is from Milford, Texas. Hawley & McKinley, of Hillsboro have bought the Lively Jewelry business here and are open for business. Mrs. Nannie Blocker wants employment. Contact her at the Cottage Hotel. Miss Jerusha Biggs passed through town to Anson for her father’s home. R.W. Scurry has received an elegant fountain and his parlor has one of the most attractive cold drink and ice cream parlors in town. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Barton Penn a fine girl Monday morning.
