Hawkins and several friends spent the day fishing on Chimney Creek. Mr. T.A. Pinkerton, popular dentist at Haskell left for convention. Mr. O.K. Reed was a passenger to Lueders. Mrs. Joe Shelton left for Lueders where her husband is putting in the machinery for the Swenson gin at that place. Mr. E.G. Day is helping put in machinery for the Swenson gin in Lueders. Miss Irene Ashburn attended commencement exercises at Baylor College with her brother Luther. F.S. Hastings returned from the Spur Ranch. James Harris of Avoca went to Albany for the baseball game. P.C. Busby of the Stamford Inn left for Albany for the picnic. Local and Personal C.H. P’Pool of Anson went to Hamlin to meet his brother R.A. P’Pool. They leave for the west on account of P.A. P’Pool’s health. Pierce Davis left for Ballinger, where he will work for a ledger company. He had been in the employ of the Tribune Office. The L.E. Adams’ farm, adjoining the college addition of Stamford, consisting of 530 acres of fine black land was sold here. The deal was made through the agency of Shepperson and Harlan. Mr. E.G. Hart of Jasper, Jasper county gave $60.00 per acre for this tract. Rev. A.J. Bush, pastor of the Christian church at Wichita Falls, Texas, will begin a revival meeting at the tabernacle in Stamford. Miss Laura Harris of Chattanooga, Tenn. has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Katie Bean. Mr. G.R. Lee, a prominent citizen of Stamford, died Monday night at 1:30 o’clock. Mr. Lee had been sick for some time and it was thought that he could not live as long as he did. The interment was made in the Stamford Cemetery, Tuesday evening at 5:30 o’clock. He leaves a family, relatives and a host of friends. The W.I. Swaim Show Co. is to play a return dates at Stamford, Monday, June 17th.
