Matthews of Waco has been visiting his brother, W.R. Matthews. W.L. Perry, auditor of the Texas Central was in Avoca. B.W. Franklin who moved here from Parker county moved back last week. Claude Cox left for Coryell county to stay. Anson Commercial club organized: S.J.T. Smith, secretary. Albert Johnson, Ed Kennedy, Jas. P. Stinson, M.D. Webb, R.J. Roland, Dr. D.L. Stephens. -- Western-Reporter Thursday evening at 8 o’clock, Frank Leal and Janey Maldonado, both Mexicans were united in marriage. Rev. R.B. Evans, officiating. The ceremony took place in the Mexican Restaurant, down on Rat Row. Local and Personal Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Sparks left for Munday to visit Mr. Sparks, parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Sparks. Eugene Williams and wife of Avoca were up to visit Mr. Williams’ mother. H.W. Wright of Shreveport, La., is in the city to take charge of the construction of the new Light Plant, the Stamford Gas and Electric Light Co. Any one wishing new wiring would ask for Mr. Wright at Wilkinson Drug Co. The Stockholders of the Stamford Ware House association are requested to meet. J.D. McClurm, Pres.; J.T. Gery, Sec. Evans returned from Navarro county his former home. Mr. Noran Galbraith, who has been in the employ of Robinson & Larche, has gone to Quanah where his parents reside. W.N. Rodriguez went down to Lueders to do some work on the telephone lines. Local and Personal Miss Ethel Lee returned from the Lee Ranch in Stonewall county and returned to her home in Cisco. F.I. Green left for Royston for their future home. Mr. J.S. Halowell was up looking after the interest in his business and returned to Albany. Mr. L.R. Blackstock and family of the Astin Ranch went to Moran to visit. J.F. Edmonston and wife visited J.O.P. Edmonston. Mr. Ray Stanton, our popular baseball manager. J.T. Barnes will move from McClellan county to Stamford after spending a few days with his son at this place and another one in Dawson county. Mrs. C.J. Rasinynall of Thiboleaux, Ga. are moving to Stamford. Miss Maggie Missik returned to Anson after attending the Deaf Mute Institute at Austin. E.G. Withers Architect and Superintendent Glasgow, Green & Davis Land Agents and Abstractors Dickens, Texas The wooden structures on the south side of the square are being torn down and we understand that contracts have already been let for five 2-story bricks to be built in their places. It is also understood that the wooden buildings on the north side of the square will be torn down and bricks erected in their stead. Down on Rat Row, the building, which was used by the bowling alley, has been torn down and a corrugated iron building is under course of construction.
