Hale is superintendent of streets. Rev. Jerome Duncan was unable to fill his appointment. Harry Ward is of the Radford Grocery. L.O. Hall is sick. Have you seen the New Buggy Store in Stamford, it’s in the New Laundry Building. Dunn & Jones. W.L. Johnson and family have been visiting relatives in Anson and returned to their home in Hico. R.W. Schucht returned to his home in Lueders. W.E. Rogers and family have been visiting the family of T.R. Rogers and returned to their home in Ellis county. Capt. T.M. Spindle went down to Walnut Springs. Miss Nova Blanton returned to her home at Stratford after a visit to Messrs. L.A. Clark and C.W. Kight. Misses Opehlia Gibson and Maude Green of Sagerton came in town. Miss Gibson will remain the guest of her niece Miss Minnie Stubbs. Mr. Durrett and wife of Ellis county, but who formerly lived where Stamford is now located are here visiting their son, W.L. Durrett. Miss Jessye Smith left for her home in Colorado City after a week’s visit with her brother Clarence Smith. D.A. Winters is building the new dormitory for the College. Will Scirley resigned his position with the Stamford Steam Laundry to take a position with Dickenson’s. Will Gardner north of town was in Stamford Wednesday. Work on the foundation of the new Presbyterian church is progressing nicely. Mrs. Della Eubanks returned to her home at Moran. Miss Macy Turner of Aspermont passed through Stamford on her way to Dublin. Daniel O’Hara left for Knox City to play ball with Anson. Mr. and Mrs. Press Corley are entertaining a fine girl at their home. Mrs. T. Mossman left for Waco after a visit with her daughter, Mrs. E.H. Clark. J.J. Bragg from near here is an old time resident and in town. Dr. Morris of Stephenville is visiting his sister Mrs. Greenwood. Dr. Morris used to practice medicine in this community before Stamford was projected. Miss Lela McClung of Kerens is visiting her uncle, Rev. R.R. Evans and family. Dr. John Bunkley of Waco is visiting his brother, Dr. W.N. Bunkley. Dr. L.M. Witt left for Waco. He is a former citizen of Jones county. W.J. Rosamond of Hico came to visit his son E.T. Rosamond. W.E. Nolen, a former citizen came in from Rotan. He said he will return to make Stamford his home. Mrs. J.L. Blankenbeckler left for Valley Mills to visit her parents. W.L. Fletcher of Mart purchased land near Stamford. Mr. B.S. William, formerly of Mineral Wells has opened up a fine restaurant and short order house on West McHarg Ave. Mr. Williams is an old restaurant man, having just sold his place of business in Mineral Wells. Mrs. Alice Lemmons, who lives 12 miles from this city, returned from a visit to her parents in Navarro County. J.D. Kmas returned to his home in Kinney. The Majestic, under the management of Harrison & Wise, had decided to leave Stamford as the Moving Picture business was not a financial success. Their destination at present is unknown. WE WILL NOT PERMIT THESE ROOMS TO BE CROWDED. President Duncan, Stamford, Texas. Dan Short, who died at Abilene on Sunday, the 21st was buried at Haskell on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Davis passed through Stamford Wednesday morning enroute to Rotan to visit their son. Mr. Davis is better known to Texas people as Cyclone Davis. R.W. Vaden, who, about two months ago killed his son near Stamford, was sentenced in the court at Anson last week, to 5 years confinement. Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Denson a girl. Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, a boy.
