Keeler, Vice-President Fort Worth & Denver R.R.; H.W Cowan, Chief Engineer Colorado Southern R.R.; R.F. Cotter, General Supt. Fort Worth a& Denver, R.R.; W.F. Sterley, General Freight Agent Fort Worth & Denver R.R. They are on a general tour of the Colorado Southern and Fort Worth & Denver lines. While here they were the welcome guests of Mr. E.P. Swenson on an automobile trip to the Spur Ranch. The party proceeded as far as Salt Fork when they were turned back by high water and returned to Stamford. The News was favored by a call by Stanley Switzer, a promising young man of Munday. He is on his way from Dallas and has been attending the fair and selecting a plant for a newspaper which he and Clarence D. Knight are to install at Hawley. Local and Personal C.A. Weisenberger spent Tuesday in Abilene. E.H. Viertel was in the city. J.L. Crosthwait was up from Avoca. J.J. Behren was in Waco. B.C. Humphrey came up from Avoca. W.W. Todd of Munday had business in Stamford. B.F. Jackson and wife visited Abilene. W.W. Brindy spent Wednesday in Abilene. Jack Dial spent days in Abilene. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wason returned from Dallas. Tom Hill of Anson was in the city. Hampton Harvick who lives in Tuxedo was in town. Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Kight returned from Dallas. J.D. Clay, of Paint Rock, Texas, and J.B. Harris, of Buffalo Gap, Texas came looking for a location for a drug store. J.P. Lawson is spending time in Dallas. Rufus Ryburn is in town. James Jones of Haskell was a visitor to the city. J.M. Franklin of Hamlin was in town. O.R. Morrison of Beaumont is making Stamford his future home. Rev. C.W. Young and son from McCaulley came to town. J.D. Curd, the obliging paper hanger of our city went to Haskell on business. Mrs. Taggart is here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Tyson. The Clansman Friday Night At the Opera House. Trades Day at Hamlin On Monday, November 4th, Hamlin will have her first Trades Display and Saleslady, and the citizens of that place are making big preparations for the event. On the day following, November 5th, they have made arrangements to have an Athletic and Field Day program. There will be a genuine Wild West Show there on that day, balloon ascensions, and may other attractions. Probably the greatest feature will be a football game, between two Texas college teams which have volunteered to pull off one of their best efforts.
