Caffey candidate for County and District Clerk. He has lived in Jones county for 18 years. He is a native of Mississippi. Date for U.C.V. Reunion set for July 15, 16 and 17th. R.B. Grubbs passes away last Thursday morning in Stamford. Mr. L.S. Goen, who lived near Hawley, died the 4th inst. and was laid to rest at Hawley. Mr. Goen was 74 years of age, was a native of Tenn., having moved to Texas 22 years ago. He was a grandfather of Mrs. Mable House of Anson. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gibbs of Hawley. Elder Simpson died the 2nd inst at the home of Hon. S.J.T. Smith in Anson. Elder Simpson was born July 15th, 1827, which made him at the time of his death 81 years of age. he was the grandfather of Mrs. S.J.T. Smith. Mrs. Geo. Walker who recently moved with husband and family to this county, died at the family home, about 7 miles southeast of Anson, Sunday morning at 7 o’clock. The funeral services were conducted at Bethel Monday by Rev. J.A. Biggs, pastor of the Methodist church of this city. On Sunday afternoon Mr. Raymond Young and Miss Myrtle Aston were united in marriage at the residence of Rev. J.A. Hyder, brother Hyder perfuming the ceremony. - Jones County Talk. A fine baby girl. Miss Georgia Welch assistant school teacher at this place who makes her home at Rule has the small pox. West Texas Bottlers Protective Association begins in Stamford, February 1909.
