G.M. Dodge and B.F. Yoakum Preparing to Extend the Stamford Road on to The Gulf and Mexico Stamford is certain of being the railway center of this Central West. She has the lead. To Secure Carnegie Library City Council Passes Resolution Required in Formal Application, Guaranteeing Maintenance of $20,000 Building New Residences For Stamford Several New Buildings Being Built and Many Others Improved Dr. T.C. Dobbins has accepted the plans furnished by his artist tect for a handsome cottage, and work will be begun immediately. The lot is just north of A.J. Swenson’s residence. N.J. Lane, U.S. Cattle Inspector, also has decided to erect a commodious residence in the northern part of town. R.P. Edmonston has just completed his residence located near the school building. A neat rent house, belonging to Sammons and Taylor is now ready for occupancy. D. Avery is building a new house just northeast of town. M. Segrustom has moved into his new house, which has just been completed. This house is near the Ericsdale pasture. Harry Ward and O.F. Herring who reside in the south part of town, are both adding to their homes. R.L. Haynie is erected a nice addition to this house in the north part of the city. W.R. Hilton is adding to his neat little house in the eastern part of the city. City Council After Tax Delinquents Abbott, White, Pool and Blanchette were present. The Electric Light Plant has just received a large new engine, which will be installed for day power as soon as it is needed. Republicans Meet and Organize Judge J.W. Boynton of Anson Delivers an Address on Republicanism W.B. Norrell was chairman, T.F. Ragsdale, secretary. J.E. Lee of Truby, F.A. Graham of Guion, W.R. Marris and J.H. Landers of Lawn and J.N. Bittick of Potosi each rode out on a new Deering binder, and their machines have gone up $25.00 in price since last season .-- Hawley Hustler. To Organize Baraca Class The young men of the First Baptist church met Sunday morning to organize a Baraca class. Miss Wiley, teacher of the Methodist Baraca class were present. J.E. Passenger Depot Central Christians Purchase Church Buy First Baptist church and Fixtures With Money Raised Sunday. The members of the Central Christian church of this place raised enough funds Sunday to buy the First Baptist church building and fixtures. The price paid was $3,000 and occupancy will be given as soon as the Baptist can secure their new building. Much credit is given Elder J.H. Shepard, the pastor. The Baptists have already raised $17000 of the 25000 needed. Wednesday night, at the home of the bride’s parents, T.F. Crawford and Miss Roxie Aiken were united in holy matrimony. Rev. Groner officiating. The bride is the accomplished daughter of the well-known farmer, J.H. Aiken, who resides four miles east of town, while the groom is a member of the firm of Crawford Bros. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford will reside in their newly acquired cottage in the southeastern part of the city. Robert R. Riddle, the two and a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Riddle, died Wednesday morning at Ranger. Robert was sick only a short time. The remains were brought here for interment Thursday morning and the funeral services were held at the Methodist church that morning at 10 o’clock. New Teachers Elected Miss Rush of DeLeon, 7th grade Miss Elizabeth Hines of Abilene, 6th Miss Pearl Matthews of Avoca, 4th Miss Gertrude Gilbert of Stamford, 3rd. She has been living in Marble Falls. Dr. Rush & Rush, the DeLeon physicians are getting their offices in shape. Mr. Green sold his half interest in Alamo Market to Mr. McCarson of Graham. Messrs. Penick is preparing the ground along his new cement sidewalk on East Hamilton and South Ferguson streets for roses. Wants to make Stamford, the City of Roses.
