Mrs. E.H. Curtis suffered a broken leg. D. Leavitt has gone to the Plains to make his future home. Fairview The meeting closed at Fairview last Sunday night, 20 additions were made. E.L. Sullivan returned from a fishing trip. A. Sullivan went to Anson. T.B. Stanford and wife of Lorena, McLennan county, visited his brother, M.G. Stanford this week. Mr. Fletcher of near Wise Champe were guests in the Gardner home. C.W. Flynn and family visited in the Sullivan home. Miss Maria Gardner was the guest in the McCough home. Horace Stanford and daughter and son of Anson visited in the M.G. Stanford home. Miss Sallie Rogan of Hutto is visiting her brother, C.W. Flynn. M.G. Stanford went west to Stamford Monday. Plainview school will open September 6th. Miss Luella Hawk and Miss Lula Bell will teach. Will Gardner went to Lueders to attend the Socialist gathering. Mrs. Woods of Limestone county is visiting in the Peters home. Walter Peters went to Stamford Tuesday. M/M U. Walker and M/M Proctor of Tuxedo visited in the Sullivan home. M/M E.T. Sullivan were guests in the Flynn home. G.J. Benham, Clyde Benham and T. Treadwell made a trip to the plains. Avoca News Rev. D.L. Coale, accompanied by Slover Culwell, left early Monday for Chillicothe to assist in a series of meetings. Elder Whitesides, president of Childers Classical Institute at Abilene is here conducting the serial services of the Disciples. Rev. and Mrs. J.T. Busay returned Friday. M/M L.D. Sitton returned home from a trip to Hamilton county. G.W. Gilley was on the plains. Tom Humphrey, Will Harris, George Harris went to Waco Friday. J.H. Stickland of Abilene is here on business. Miss Lina Gray of Rising Star is visiting Miss Pearl Matthews. Miss Nora Matthers left Monday for Dallas where she will purchase millinery for Slover, Culwell & Co. Miss Myrtle Roebuck of Hawley is visiting Miss Kate Crosthwait. Tomy Woodson of Nugent visited friends. Joel Grimes has resigned his carriership on Rt. No. 2 to make preparation to enter school. Penick City Lee Watts and Bob James went to Stamford on business. Jack Watts and Bill West left for Leonard, Texas. Misses Agnes Brooks and Myrtle Watts spent Saturday night with Miss Vergie Glenn. R.A. Brown and wife, of Anderson Chapel visited relatives in the community. Talmage Britton left for Dereno, NM The death angel visited the home of M/M Ricks last Saturday morning and called to rest little Myrtle. She was 15 months old. Miss Vergie Glenn, Charlie Key, Miss Lizzie Watts, Alton Davis, Noah Glenn and Miss Myrtle Watts attended church at Spring Creek Sunday night. Miss Annette Hudson returned form the nurse training school at Kansas City, MO. C.H Thomas of Loraine arrive in the city to visit his brother, W.B. Thomas of Stamford. J.H. Lowe of Dallas has leased the Ferguson building. Miss Moody Grimes and Mrs. Alice Barrette of Waco returned home after a visit to J.M. Moon of Stamford. Mrs. M.E. Hudson, who has been spending the summer at Sparks, Ga, has returned to resume her place at the dormitory of the Collegiate Institute. J.H. Bain and family, of Ferris have been visiting in the city. Prof. Turrentine and wife, arrived in the city. Prof Turentine is the principal of the Collegiate Institute. First Presbyterian church, corner of Weatherbee and Oliver Streets. John S. Edenburn, pastor. R.A.Musgrove, secretary of Sweetwater Progressive Club. Charles A. Jones, the genial and able manager of the Spur Ranch, is spending several days in Stamford. The Stamford & Northwestern has reached within about 14 miles of the ranch. T.H. Flynn of Georgetown, spent several days with his brother, C.W. Flynn, on Rural Rt. 2. U.C.V.
