All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** The Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Taylor County, Texas Thursday, January 13, 1944 DESCENDANT OF TEXAS HEROES DIES AT STAMFORD HOSPITAL STAMFORD, Jan. 12 Mrs. G.W. Bosse, 84, born during Civil War days and descendant of a long line of Texas war heroes, died Tuesday in Stamford. Mrs. Bosse had been ill with a heart ailment since Christmas day and was hospitalized on Tuesday. Funeral will be held Thursday at the St. John's Methodist hcurch with Dr. O.P. Clark, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery with Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Bosse, the former Mary Engelking, was the granddaughter of Sigismund Von Roeder who was one of the few survivors of Stephen F. Austin's colony and an uncle was a soldier in the Texas Revolution. She was born 27 January 1861, at Jillteim, Austin county, where she was reared. She was a school teacher for five years before her marriage on 21 December 1886. After living in Kenney, Mr. and Mrs. Bosse came to Haskell County in 1907 to establish their home near Stamford. Survivors: her husband; 4 sons - William F., Edward, Ernest and Herbert Bosse, and a daughter, Mrs. Lena H. Hering, all of Stamford.
