Vernia Mae Anders

Vernia Mae Anders, 83, of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2006. Funeral 
services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with 
Rev. James Brigham officiating. Graveside services were at the Henson Cemetery in 
Red Springs at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. 

Vernia Mae was born May 20, 1923 in Loving, Oklahoma to Joseph William and Jewel 
Victoria Cheek. She was raised in and around the Seymour area and moved to Stamford 
in 1962. She married Roy Howard Henson on October 18, 1940 in Ballinger. He passed 
away in 1957. She married Bobby Fay Anders on December 3, 1965 in Fredericksburg, 
Texas. He passed away in 1998. 

She is survived by 3 sons: Franklin Carl Henson of Stamford, Ray Don Henson and wife 
Melissa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Edward Burl Henson and wife Beth of Albany, 
Texas, 1 daughter, Billie Mae Roche of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 1 step son, Donny 
Anders, 1 brother, Gerald Cheek and wife Wanda of Haskell, 2 sisters, Billie Jo 
Vaughan and Juanita Greene, both of Stamford.
