All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************** Euclid Crockett Appling, 74, of Stamford passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. JohnÕs United Methodist Church with Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. Euclid was born December 3, 1931 in Stamford to Crockett and Alice Appling. He was a lifetime resident of the area, graduating Stamford High School in 1949. He married Jane Covey in July 9, 1949. They farmed and ranched until Euclid entered the oil fields in the mid 1950Õs. After going into the oil business, he and Jane went overseas where he worked as a consultant. He worked in North Africa, Turkey, England, South America and Australia. He returned full time to farming and ranching in the mid 1980Õs and continued this until the present. In addition to his wife of 56 years he is survived by 1 daughter, Janey Smith and husband Doug of Abilene, 2 grandsons, Derek Smith and wife Julie of Mesquite, and Brandon Smith and wife Sara of Austin, and great grandson, Benjamin Langston Smith of Mesquite. Pallbearers are: Larry Blackwell, Kenneth Elkins, Andy McKeever, Mike McKeever, Carl Marugg, Don Walker, Bob Harrison and Ferdie Walker. Honorary Pallbearers are: Boyce Blankenship, Gerald Clark, Johnny Childress, Lynn Gillespie, Tommy Hammer, John Harrell, Fareed Hassen, Tom Hickman, Ray Kinney, Billy McKeever, Sam Reeves and Jim West. Memorial may be made to the donorÕs favorite charity.
