Blanchette, 75, former Stamford mayor, died Monday, 17 August 1936 at his home in Dallas. The family moved to Dallas in 1916 from Stamford. Mr. Blanchette was owner of the Stamford Dry Goods company in Stamford a number of years, was mayor in 1909 and 1910 and took a prominent part in civic affairs. The first paving around the square was done during Mr. Blanchette's administration as mayor. Mr. Blanchette had been retired for several years, formerly having been in the filling station business in Dallas. He was a native of Tennessee. Funeral held at a Dallas funeral home and burial was in the Restland Memorial park. Survivors: widow; son - Grady Blachette of Dallas; two daughters - Mrs. J.L. Adams of San Antonio, Mrs. Hunter Spencer of Houston. The Stamford American August 21, 1936
