King, 76, pioneer West Texas resident, died at the home of a son, Ralph King, in Stamford Sunday, 9 May 1937. Funeral service held at the Anson Church of Christ with John M. Rice, minister of the Stamford church of Christ and Mr. Hill, Anson minister, officiating. Burial in Bethel Cemetery, Funston beside the grave of Mr. King's wife who died in November 1929. Mr. King was born in Tennessee 20 June 1861 and went to Arkansas as a small child. When he was 17 years of age he came to West Texas, working on ranches in the vicinity of Cross Plains. In 1906 he and his family moved to Anson and he made that he home until the death of his wife. Since that time he has made his home in Stamford with his son, Ralph King, and has spent part of his time visiting in the homes of his children. Survivors: 4 sons - Ralph King, R.P. King of Abilene, J.R. King of near Anson, E.M. King of Dallas; 4 daughters - Mrs. C.L. Adams of Lubbock, Mrs. A.B. Bates of Dallas, Mrs. Jack Funderburk of Wills Point, Mrs. F.P.
