Jones, 86, died Friday, May 5, 2006, in Winters. Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2006, at First Assembly of God Church in Hamlin with Rev. Ted Miller and Rev. J.C. Amburn officiating. Burial was in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Adams Funeral Home. Born June 20, 1919, in Burnet County, Gladys was the daughter of the late James W. and Alvie (Arms) Carleton. She married Rev. W. Thelon Jones October 1, 1939, in Albany. Albany was not only their first pastorate, but also their final pastorate before retiring and moving to Hamlin1984. They were both Assembly of God ministers. He preceded her in death May 17, 1997. Gladys moved to Winters in 2005. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hamlin. Two daughters (Gladys Weaver and Wilma Edwards), son-in-law (Raymond Edwards), 4 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James Thelon and Margaret Jones of Charlotte, and Rev. Robert Michael and Barbara Jones of Winters; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah and Jerry Bristow of Oklahoma City, OK; one son-in-law, Gerald Weaver of Hamlin; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
