Keen, 72, of Aspermont, pioneer cattlemen of Stonewall county died in Stamford Sunday. Funeral at the Aspermont Methodist church of which he was a charter member. At the time of his death, Mr. Keen was in active management of his 12 section ranch near Aspermont. He was born in Dallas County, 20 December 1867, and moved with his parents as a youth into the free grass lands of the region where Olney, Young County is now located. There they established the ÒT Cross TÓ Terrapin ranch. While wagon boss of the Terrapin ranch, Mr. Keen married Almeda Camp, daughter of an early day sheep rancher on the West Fork of the Brazos River. After the plow had invaded this section the young couple pushed west and located at Old Rayner in Stonewall county. This range was eventually cut up into pastures and Keen acquired four sections of land adjoining the townsite of Aspermont. Survivors: widow, son Ð Clyde Keen of Aspermont; daughter Ð Mrs. Howard Wylie of Lubbock; grandson Ð Bobbie Wylie of Lubbock. The Stamford American Friday, February 2, 1940
