All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Sidney Self McDougle Sidney Self McDougle, 64, who had been a resident of Stamford since 1901, died at the home of his son, Charles McDougle, Monday, 1 March 1937. Funeral held at St. John's Methodist Chruch with Rev. P.C. Williams, pastor of the Memorial Baptsit Church and John M. Rice, minister of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery, where Mr. McDougle had served as sexton since 1924. Mr. McDougle was born at Spring, north of Houston, 11 September 1872. He went to Ellis county as a youth and came to Jones county in 1901. He freighted between Albany and Aspermont for a time when this part of the country was being developed. He farmed for several years and then worked for the Stamford Mill and Elevator Company for 14 years, leaving that work in 1923 when his health failed for a time. He was married in 1904 to Miss Harriet Ann Foote, who survives. Survived by: widow; 3 daughters - Miss Olive McDougle of Stamford, Mrs. W.C. Collins of Hamlin, Mrs. Earl Loop of Houston; 1 son - Charles McDougle of Stamford; 4 grand - Barbara Ann and Betty Sue McDougle, Mack and Jack Clay of Hamlin; 3 sisters - Mrs. Martha Shuler of Spring, Mrs. Jennie Edwards of Goose Creek, Mrs. G.W.
