All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Jack Nolen Jack Nolen, 27, popular Anson man, died in Stamford Monday, 14 June 1937 of a broken neck received Saturday, 12 June 1937 on an outing for West Texas Utilities employees of district C on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River near Lueders. Nolen had started to swing out over the river and dive into the stream when his hand slipped on the swing and he plunged into shallow water. Nolen was an electrician and had been employed by West Texas Utilities company for five years, as a trouble shooter and service man. He and his wife, the former, Miss Inez Reeves, moved to Anson in 1934 from Winters. Mr. Nolen was a Boy Scout and pianist in the Anson Baptist church. His wife was a teacher at Corinth during the past year. Funeral for Nolen was held at the Anson Baptist church with Rev. L.A. Doyle, assisted by Rev. W.R. Hamor of Winters and hte Rev. Willis P. Gerhart, rector of the Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church in Abilene conducting the service. Burial was in the Willow cemetery, Haskell, Texas. Survivors: widow, his mother: Mrs. Leona Nolen of National City, CA; grandmother - Mrs. Alice T.
