Sandlin, 62, former deputy sheriff of Jones county, died at his home near Lueders, Tuesday, 2 November 1937. Funeral was at the Lueders Baptist church. Three Lueders ministers officiated: Rev. Fred Moreland, J.C. Eubanks, and Rev. Rex Kendall, assisted. Rev. Joel V. Grimes, Baptist minister of Avoca, old friend of the family in conducting the service. Burial in Highland cemetery at Stamford. Mr. Sandlin was born in Tyler county, 8 May 1875, and came to Jones county with his parents in 1903, settling near Avoca. In 1910 he was married to Miss Laura Philly, who survives him. Mr. Sandlin was a farmer for many years and formerly served as a deputy sheriff of Jones county. He joined the Presbyterian church in 1920. Survivors: widow, 1 daughter - Mrs. Steve Shropshire; 2 sons - Paul of Denver, Colorado and Edward Sandlin of Lueders; 4 brothers - Hollis Sandlin of Austin, Dan of Denver, Colorado, Jim of Brownwood and O.
