Sparks, 80, member of a prominent real estate firm during the early days of Stamford, died at the Stamford sanitarium, Friday afternoon. He had been brought here from the home of a son in Hamlin several days before, critically ill of pneumonia. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Central Presbyterian church, Rev. Rogan, pastor was assisted by Rev. Henry Littletn, pastor of the Hamlin Baptist church. Burial was in Highland cemetery, near the grave of his wife, who died some 20 years ago. Barrow Funeral Home directed the funeral. Mr. Sparks was born in Bosqueville on 25 April 1858. During the early days of Stamford he and the late Judge L.M. Buie conducted a real estate business here. Later he was engaged in the drug business in Hamlin and has been retired for a number of years. He had been making his home with a son in Hamlin. Survivors: 5 sons: J.A. of Post Sulphur, LA; E.F. of Park; B.T. of McAllen, L.S. and P.H. both of Hamlin, 9 grand; A daughter died a number of years ago. The Stamford American 20 May 1938
