Potts and family moved from Grayson County to Jones County, landing here 9 October 1883, filing on Section 6, one mile south and two miles west of Anson, paying $2.00 an acre. At the expiration of the 30 year period in which the notes were to be paid, the place was paid out, the only place in this community thus handled. Mr. Potts died on this place in May 1903. Mrs. Potts died in Stamford in February 1924. The six children are: Mrs. Dora Mae McEachin, wife of Heck A. McEachin, pioneer newspaper man of Anson, died at her home in Fort Worth where she lived with her children in the middle 1920s Edgar Potts died a young man in 1884 in Grayson County, Texas. Mrs. Dottie Penick, wife of R.[Robert] L.[Lee] Penick, pioneer merchant of Anson and Stamford, died at her home in Lueders, (day before Thanksgiving), [25 November] 1931 Mrs. Willie Dick Kennedy, who lives with her daughter south of Anson her first husband, John F. Ferguson was three years deputy and four years as county clerk, died 21 April 1891, her second husband, H.B. Kennedy, moving here 1884, dying 1 January 1929. S.C. Potts resides in Mena, Arkansas to which place he moved in 1921.
