He was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Kenedy, to the late William M. and Hettie Linder Brown. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He earned the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 41 years and was named a Telephone Pioneer of America. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
