PORTER KENEDY - William O. "Bill" Porter, 89, of Kenedy, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003. He was born March 6, 1914, in Runge, to the late Guy and Annie White Porter. He was a rancher. He had a career with Radio Communications and flew with Pan Am for seven years. He was a deacon, head usher, and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Kenedy. Survivors: wife, Polly Goldsmith Porter; daughters, Sherry White of Bedford and Suzanne Brown of Tyler; son, Billy Porter of Kenedy; and three grandchildren. She was born Oct. 24, 1909, in Diboll, to the late William and Cornelia Weeks Coan. She graduated from Diboll High School and received her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin University and her master's degree in education at Baylor University. She was a teacher for 36 years. She was a member of Community Bible Church, Otto Kaiser Ladies Auxiliary, Karnes County Retired Teachers Association, and Texas Retired Teachers Association. Survivors: daughter, Beth Davis of Kenedy; son, Bob Hemphill of Sapulpa, Okla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, Claude L.
