He was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Ecleto, to the late Lucas and Margarita Reyna Rivas. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church. Survivors: wife, Estefanita Soto Rivas; stepdaughter, Yolanda Garza of Runge; sister, Sarita Reyna of San Angelo; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: brothers, Manuel Rivas and Saragoza Rivas; and half-brother, Rudy Rivas. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. tonight at Rhodes Funeral Home chapel. April 9, 2006 • SIDNEY R. RHODES - KARNES CITY KARNES CITY - Sidney Ross Rhodes, 81, of Karnes City, died Friday, April 7, 2006. He was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Karnes City, to the late Sidney C. and Ross Weir Rhodes. He worked for Karnes Electric and CP&L for more than seven years and was an Exxon station manager in Karnes City for 23 years. He worked for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, retiring in 1988 after 14 years of service. He was a safety training instructor for municipal employees and a graduate of Karnes City High School. He attended Texas A&M University and is a member of First Baptist Church in Karnes City. He was a lifetime member of Alameda Lodge No. 200 and a member of Kenedy Lodge. Survivors: wife, Jacquelyn H. Rhodes; and daughters, Suzanne Rhodes of Lockhart and Jann Rhodes of Broomfield, Colo.
