Carter, 86, of Karnes City, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, in Karnes City. He was born September 19, 1919, in Kenedy, to the late Axel and Ruth Johnson Holm. He was a retired bookkeeper for the Karnes City Hospital and the Karnes Citation and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a 1938 graduate of Kenedy High School and a graduate of Durham Business College in Austin. Survivors: sons, Don Carter of Honolulu, HI, and Ron Carter of Karnes City; daughter, Ruth Horne of San Antonio; brother, A.G. Holm Jr. of Robstown; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was born August 2, 1914, in Harmony Community, to the late Joseph and Tekla Jendrzey Yanta. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. A member of Karnes City I.S.D School Board for 19 years and a life-long resident of Harmony Community in Karnes County. Survivors: wife, Theresa Yanta of Karnes City; daughter, Dr. Shirley Ann Yanta of Burnett; and sons, Fred and Edwin Yanta, both of Devine; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Lutheran Brotherhood, member of the Karnes Housing Authority, and a graduate of Karnes City High School.
