March 7, 2006 PETRA P. HERNANDEZ - KARNES CITY KARNES CITY - Petra Pena Hernandez, 84, of Karnes City, died Sunday, March 5, 2006. She was born April 17, 1921, in Runge, to the late Manuel and Catarina Sanchez Pena. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church. Survivors: daughter, Lydia Garza of Taylor; sons, Rosendo Garza of Stockdale and Roger Hernandez of Karnes City; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, Andres Hernandez Sr.; daughter, Mary Juanita Hernandez; and son, Frank Garza. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Rhodes Funeral Home. March 10, 2006 ELMER C. HOLM - KARNES CITY KARNES CITY - Elmer Clifford Holm, 84, of Karnes City, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006. He was born July 10, 1921, in Kenedy, to the late Axel and Ruth Holm. He was a farmer and rancher who owned and operated his own farm and was a member of Free Evangelical Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the 908th Ordinance Co. Survivors: wife, Isabel Glaze Johnson Holm; daughter, Becky Holloway of Hearne; son, Colin Wayne Johnson of Karnes City; sister, Myrtle Holm Carter of Karnes City; brother, A.C. Holm of Robstown; and two grandchildren. Preceded in death by: sisters, Alice Holm Johnson and Anna Mae Holm Weir; and brothers, B.Q. Holm and Carl Holm. LOPEZ SR. - KENEDY KENEDY - Ernesto S. "Pivo" Lopez Sr., 75, of Kenedy, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006. He was born July 26, 1930, in Kenedy, to the late Ponciano Sr. and Rosa Salas Lopez. He retired from Kenedy Cotton Compree and was a retired night watchman for the city of Kenedy. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II, chief of staff at Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital for 20 years, and a physician in practice in Kenedy for more than 60 years.
