The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgenwebarchives.org *********************************************************************** Book H, pages 93, 94, 95 and 96: 28 September 1858: Henry Scroggin to Reese Hughes Warranty Deed: The State of Texas ] County of Kaufman ] Know all men by these presents that I, Henry Scroggin of the above County and State in consideration of the sum of ---Dollars to me paid by Reese Hughes of the County of Cass and State above written, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do hereby give grant, bargain, sell, alienate and convey unto the said Reese Hughes his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and situated in the County of Van Zandt and State of Texas and known as the portion of the Silas P. McBee division of the land surveyed by virtue of the Headright Certificate of Wm. H. McBee Deceased, allotted by the Probate Court of said Van Zandt County to J. G. McBee as a surviving heir and transferred by deed to me the said Henry Scroggin on the 18th day of January A. D. 1858 as shown by the Records of Deeds for said County in Book G. pages 271-272-273 to which reference may be had; Also to the Records of the Probate Court of said County the above tract of land more particularly described as follows to wit; Beginning at the east corner of division No. 3. made for R. McBee at a stake see field notes of said R. McBee division for witness trees. Thence N. 45 degrees W. 342 varas to the west corner of said Silas P. McBee, Deceased Tract of Land, see field notes on Record for witness trees. Thence S. 45 degrees W. 3300 vs to a stake; Thence S. 45 degrees E. 342 vs to a stake in prairie being the west corner of division No.3.; Thence N. 45 degrees E. 3300 vs to the place of Beginning containing 200 acres of land more or less. Together with all the rights privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to have and to hold all and singular the above mentioned and described tract of land unto the Said Reese Hughes his heirs and assigns forever and I, the Said Henry Scroggin do hereby bind myself, my heirs administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the title to the above said land unto Said Reese Hughes his heirs and assigns against the claims of all persons lawfully claiming the same or any part there of by or through me.
