B. Randolph, who died last week. Judge Alan Fraser of Alpine administered the oath as friends and officials looked on. Casebier was appointed Monday by Gov. Allan Shivers to preside over the district which includes Kimble, Sutton, Crockett, Upton, and Pecos counties. Coke R. Stevenson, former governor, had presided over the district as temporary judge since February. Stevenson has been mentioned as a possible candidate for associate justice of Texas Supreme Court or the U. S. Senate. Press reports earlier this week quoted Stevenson as saying he hadn't thought of running for anything except the U. S. Senate. Casebier faces an immediate election campaign. The term of office to which he was appointed expires this year. Judge Randolph was serving the fourth year of his first elective term. The newly appointed judge moves up from the post of Fort Stockton city attorney. During the war he was assistant county attorney. A Pecos Co. resident since the age of 18 months, except for two years in law practice in Wood county, Casebier was graduated from Sul Ross College with a B. S. Degree and studied law at the University of Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Casebier of Fort Stockton and is married to the former Miss Glory Britton of Quitman, an East Texas whom the judge met at Fort Stockton. They have two boys, John Andrew, 9 and Frank 5. =========================================================================================
