H. Cavaness, 72, bought a new Buick from his son, George Cavaness, manager of Farmer Motor Company. He is going in it to Mason to help his mother, Mrs. George Bird, celebrate her 91st birthday, on July 4. Piggly Wiggly specials: 2 lbs. coffee 25 cents, Kraft cheese 21 cents lb., chuck steak 19 cents lb., pork sausage 20 cents lb., green beans 5 cents lb., barbeque 25 cents lb. Herbert Simon has bought the Sofge ranch at around $20 an acre. Mrs. N. C. Tullos returned Wednesday from Tennessee. John Grosenbacher, successful ranchman, died June 18 at Roosevelt. Death claimed Andrew Allsup on June 24...engaged in ranching in Kimble since 1902. Death claims two pioneers: Andrew Allsup, 76, died Thursday, survived by wife & eight children: Mmes. Matt Burt, I E. Farris, Bill Cunningham; Britt, Tom, Robert and Columbus Allsup, all of Junction. John Grosenbacher, 75, died June 18. He is survived by his wife and four children, Miss Annie, Richard & Arnold Grosenbacher of Roosevelt & Mrs. Ida Behrens of Camp Allison. Mrs. E. Holekamp, who died in Galveston June 22, was brought here for burial Friday. She was born in Cuero Jan. 17, 1960 (sic), and is survived by her husband, Ernest Holekamp, four sons, Julius, Edwin, Walter & C.T. and one daughter, Mrs. L. S. Chamberlain. Mrs. J. A. Heyman is seriously ill at her home following a stroke of paralysis Monday night. She was found by Mr. Heyman and Mr. Duckworth slumped down on a bed on the back porch. She was unconscious for several hours and continues in a critical condition. All her children arrived within a few hours to be at her bedside. There has been no news from them since July 2, when radio reported fuel practically ex... Gibb Gilchrist is elected dean at A&M College. Public schools will get more money next year. The board of education voted $22 scholastic apportionment for the 1,560,00 school children for next year. The allotment for 36-37 was $10. Pat and Jake Beasley will leave July 14 for Ozona to take possession of an 11 - section ranch leased for four years. New community road to serve ranchmen in the South Llano section embracing Henderson, Simpson and Dupuy ranches finished. Miss Christine Schraub was duchess to the Brady Jublee and race meet.
