She had been ill many months and for several weeks had been in the Nix hospital in San Antonio, but two weeks before her death she was brought back to Junction. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon with Rev. George B. McCrary in charge of the services. A vocal solo was rendered by Mr. George Ard, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. A. W. Loeffler. Interment was made in the Junction Cemetery under the direction of the Schreiner-Hodges Co. Funeral Home. Mrs. Barnes was born in Junction, Texas, February 18, 1905, and spent her life here with the exception of a few years spent in San Antonio. She attended the Junction public schools and after graduating from high school attended a commercial college in San Antonio. She was married to Mr. E. J. Barthelow in San Antonio on October 15, 1926, where they resided until his death on April 29, 1931. To this union was born one daughter, Carolyn. On May 29, 1933, she was married to Mr. Clint Barnes of Junction and they have lived here continuously since that time. She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Carolyn Barthelow; her parents, Judge and Mrs. M. E. Blackburn; six brothers--John, M. C., Marvin, William, Milton and Dayton; three sisters--Mrs. Joe Felps, Miss Mary Ellis Blackburn and Mrs. Thomas D. Snodgrass. When only nine years old, Mrs. Barnes united with the Methodist Church in Junciton and continued in that fellowship and faith thruout her life. She took an active interest in her church relations and was a teacher in the Sunday School until forced to retire on account of ill health. Her pastor paid a beautiful tribute to her Christian life and activity during the funeral services. The large crowd present and the beautiful floral offering attest her popularity in the community where she spent practically all her life. =====================================================================================
