He married Ann Mariah Frazier, 14 August 1845. She was the oldest daughter of Benjamin Frazier & Virginia Fulkerson who also lived in Patrick County, VA. Peter's Father John G. Lee was shown to be a farmer (probably tobacco) but was also involved in land trading and active in Local affairs, being appointed "Constable" and later along with members of his in-law's families, the Frans, Critz and Carters as "Overseers of the Poor". He was reportedly born in Patrick County, VA but we are not sure who his parents were. John G. Lee married first, Susan Frans, the daughter of John Frans and Mary Polly Jones, she was the mother of his first 5 children; Peter Alexander 1823/24; Susan 1843; John A. 1833-34; Mary Polly 1836-38; and Joseph 1840. Susan died in 1841 and soon after her death, John G. married Susan's sister, Nancy Frans. John G. & Nancy had 4 children; Lucy 1842; Harden 1843; George Carter in 1846; and Martha Jane by 1851. All nine children were born in Patrick County, VA. Anna Mariah's Father, Benjamin Frazier, born 1800-05 in North Carolina to David Frazier and Sarah M. Bulla, second of their 11 children. The Fraziers –immigrated to Pennsylvania about 1715 from Scotland and eventually on to N.C. and beyond. Her mother Virginia (Jennie) Fulkerson, born 1803 in Virginia, tenth of the eleven children born to James William Fulkerson Sr. and Nancy Martin. The Fulkerson Line has a long and interesting history, beginning with Dirck Volckertszen, immigrating to the new world by about 1630. He was said to be a ship's carpenter. Family legend has it that he came to the Dutch West India Company's New Amsterdam Colony from Bergen, Norway. Likely of Norwegian or Scandinavian origin. In 1828 Benjamin Frazier began purchasing land in Patrick County, VA. By 1850, of special interest is the 133 acre tract from the Allen heirs for $995. This was the "Yellow Sulphur Springs Tract", on which Benjamin built what later became known as "Patrick Springs Hotel", a long used and well known resort and church camp. In the book, HISTORY OF PATRICK CO., VA, seven of the eight sons of Benjamin & Virginia are listed as serving with the C.S.A. in the Civil War from Patrick Co., VA: Their Children; 1.Anna Mariah, 2. According to Ann Mariah's, "Civil War Widow's Pension Application", Comptroller's File No. 7513, filed 13 March 1900, Peter only served about 4 months in 1861. Her application was approved 18 day of Aug., A. D. 1900, I do not know what her monthly allotment was. His other military service records show: P. A. His grandson "Bill Eaglebarger", told Elizabeth Booth that Peter was "buried in Evergreen Cemetery without a marker." He said that, "if one entered in the main gate and go 2 or 3 blocks east and then south, it would probably be in that block or the next." No record of the burial of Peter Lee exists in Evergreen Sexton's Records that were published in 1992. The local Oddfellow Chapter issued the following resolution: "At a meeting of Wildey Lodge No 21, IOOF on the evening of the 4th Jan 1868 a committee was appointed to draft [a] preamble and resolutions relative to the death of our beloved Brother P. A. Lee, who departed this life on the evening of Jan 2nd 1868. Whereas in the over ruling providence of an all wise creator, our well beloved Brother P. A. Lee has been removed from our midst by death. Therefore resolved in his death we have lost a good and useful member society a bright ornament and his family, a [loving?] companion and doting father though deprived of his companionship here on earth we hope and trust that our loss may prove his gain-that we may meet in the Grand Lodge above, where death never enters. Resolved that we tender to the widow and family of our deceased Brother, our heartfelt sympathies, with the assurance that the ties that bound us together as good Odd Fellows, does not cease with his demise, But we are administered to go further and extend to them that protection and care due to the families of all who are faithful to the order. Resolved that we wear the visual badge of mourning for 30 days. [more text was present but was not transcribed] Signed by Wortham, Griffith and Goff. 1869, a H.H. Forney and his wife Catherine, which Deed is recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Lamar County Texas in Record Book "R" page 198. I do not find Ann on the 1880 Census, but I do find all of her children except Peter A. Lee b. 1856. I do not find him again on any legal or family document after the 1870 census. John Wm. and Richard Henry were in Collin Co., TX. Susan, Benjamin, Mary Ann and Ella are all living in Larmar County. In 1888, William H Henshaw, husband of Susan V. The petition states all three children were under 14 years of age, living in Lamar County, where their parents had recently died. The children did have an interest in some land with a probable value of $125.00, located in Lamar County. Willie Lee Cox lived with William and Susan (Lee) Henshaw, until she was an adult. William H & Thomas C, were found living in Oregon in 1900, there are no family records of who their Mother was. The 1900 Census for Lamar County, TX , Ann is living with her youngest daughter, Ella (Lee) and her husband James F. Eaglebarger and their family. Ann is listed as a widow, and that she had 8 children with only 4 children living. Anna Mariah (Frazier) Lee passed away 27 March 1906, she was living with her Granddaughter Mrs. Claude Lewis (Willie Cox) at the time of her death, but died at the home of friends, R. E Mayse. She is buried in an unmarked grave in the Faubian Cemetery of Lamar County, TX. She was 79 yrs old at the time of her death. Survivors included 2 daughters of Paris, Lamar County, Susan V. (Lee) Henshaw and Thomas Ella (Lee) Eaglebarger, and 2 sons, John Wm. Lee, living in Wills Point, Van Zandt Co., TX and Benjamin F/S Lee living in Indian Territory / Carter Co., OK. Her Obituary states she was the wife of the "Cousin of "Robert E Lee" which we have learned is not fact. As a result of a DNA Test done by a Great Grandson in 2005, we have learned there is no connection to that Family, in fact our DNA results have not matched with any of the Lee Lines tested as of this date, July 2005.
