(?Lee) One day after date I promised to pay for value received of (?Cornelia) H. Roach, ten hundred and seventy four dollars with interest at the rate of eight percent per annum from date, for a certain Parcel or Tract of land situated in the City of Paris, Larmar County, Texas, lying north of a Tract of land belonging to Wm. W. Jones, said Parcel of land contains five acres more or less and is the same tract of land sold by and deeded by Lewis Roach and his wife (?Cornelia?) H. Roach to Benjamin F. Forney, for which Parcel of land the said Benjamin F. Forney executed his promissory note for, nine hundred dollars to the aforesaid (?Cornelia) H. Roach; by date the (??) September 1860 and payable the Eighth of January 1861. This Note is given in place of the Note of B.F. Forney to (?Cornelia) H. Roach. No part of said note having been paid; this day June 8th 1863, becoming myself the purchaser of said property from the said Benjamin F. Forney and his wife Catherine Forney and this note is for the purchase survey for said tract of land. Signed, Sealed and Delivered in presence of Wm. Bramlette, Henry Moore, June 8th 1865.
